Take an E10 socket and remove all 8 of the bolts that hold the bearing caps to the engine head (12Nm on refitting). The bearing caps are the brackets that hold the camshaft to the engine. They don’t contain a physical bearing as they are part of an oil bearing system. Oil is injected underneath the camshaft in the area of the bearing cap and the rotation of the camshaft distributes the oil around to the bearing cap. Make a note of the position and orientation of each bearing cap. They should be numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4 from the sprocket and facing the correct way around if you stood at the sprocket end and looked along the camshaft. Click if info helped 9 likes 11162 views Print
