There are 3 possible types of impact sensor. Front Impact Sensors One on each side of the front crash bar. Only fitted on American 451 fortwos. Side Impact Sensors Fitted to each side of the car, just beside the seat base. Only fitted to cars with side curtain airbags and/or seat side airbags. Airbag Controller Impact Sensor Fitted to all non American cars. Instead of separate sensors, the crash sensor is built into the airbag control unit hidden up under the dashboard. Side Impact Sensors If you are getting any of these error codes, the side sensors could be faulty. B0077 – Left Front/Driver Side Impact Sensor (SIS) Malfunction B0109 – Side impact module-Left Rear deployment loop resistance is less than 1.3 ohms B0110 – Side impact module-Left Rear high circuit is less than 2.4 volts B0111 – Side impact module-Left Rear high and/or low circuits is short to ground or short to voltage B0112 – Side impact module-Right Rear deployment loop resistance is less than 1.3 ohms B0113 – Side impact module-Right Rear high circuit is less than 2.4 volts B0114 – Side impact module-Right Rear high and/or low circuits is short to ground or short to voltage B1889 – Passenger Airbag Disable Module Sensor Obstructed B1165 – Signal from component A54 (right airbag sensor) is faulty (thanks John P) B116* – Signal from component A53 (left airbag sensor) is faulty 450 Fortwo Nothing yet. If they encounter a side impact, they’ll set the seat side airbag off on that side. Disconnection is easy, just lift the black tab and pull the yellow connector out. Remove the Torx25 screws at each end and remove it from the car.
