Changing a wheel
Use the wheel wrench to slacken off the wheel
bolts by turning them anticlockwise, but do not
remove them yet.
Position the car jack at one of the designated
jacking points (A).
The jacking points can be easily identified at
the impressions in the door-sill area.
The bearing surface of the jack support (B)
must be positioned vertically below the jacking
point (A).
Lever the smart up using the jack until the
wheel is free of the ground.
Now you can unscrew the wheel bolts and remove
the wheel.
Danger of accident!
If the jack is not brought properly into position, it could slip out from under the car
and the smart be tipped off the jack.
Danger of injury!
The jack is intended to lift the smart off the ground for short spells only.
The bearing surface for the jack must be solid and level. If the ground is not suffi-
ciently stable then a support must be placed underneath the jack.
A jack stand must be used when conducting work underneath the smart.
