right you join us with our pristine smart car show arrange a little bit but she's not bad but what are we doing today we are upgrading the speakers we are going to try and turn this into a sonic Cathedral of sound we're gonna drive down MacDonald's aren't we drive through the drive-thru rockin it George aren't we yeah if you take out your dashboard your car will look something like that right now and this is what your dashboard looks like when it's out this piece Ian and George will do the little pointy thing and if you go there we've done the video is proud to take it all apart now these are the standard speakers look at those they're not up to much are they now I don't know how can you tell which speakers you've got do you reckon that you could look up through I reckon you probably could clean you George Dorothy no reckon if you lay look if you lay on the floor II I reckon you could look up through here and you should you should look or feel to see if you've got the standard speakers I reckon so reckon that's what you need to do and if and you may even better look through yeah but I don't think you better see a lot through the little this is where the sound comes through these little things here right but smart did these little gangster ghetto boombox base tube things alright George is gonna zoom in on the part number not gonna was a part number there I think it's this here it produces a partner but that many zeros in it so it's that Q 0 1 1 7 1 V 0 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 and the other one is similar but it's like one seven one anyway you can work it around I'll put the I'll put the part numbers down below description here we go where's the book so big I've been diddled right let's have a look so that's that's that one now these are different for left and Driver my Android so we you've just written those part numbers down and your steering wheels on the other side you've wasted your time Troy I don't know what the left those smart forms oh he's not gonna write so that's that and that's that now obviously what they've done is they've created a sort of cavity and I was trying to explain to George and his sister last night about waves and and how they try and design these with a set volume to give you better frequency response at different things but they got bored right so what do these do so these so we forced on us because we brought some JVC speakers I bought them secondhand on eBay because times are I doubt me Georgie yeah yeah it cost me 15 pounds but they gather that's what part number 250 watts is that gonna be enough are we gonna better out boom Garry jerking no no but we'll ever try right then okay and they're sort of gonna go in there but I think I'm just gonna have to nip the ends of those down so I think the diamond are this will get whatever hold on just a minute right so you are looking at what you can get by um didn't 45 millimetres and for those of us that are Imperial it's like for even a little bit of a fractions like oh I can look at how I don't do all that aids and all that right then and I guess they're both the same know what are the standard speakers boards yeah well they're barely a hundred those it so look at that we're gonna have 45 millimeters more of sound excellent right so now these obviously so we're first thing we're gonna do in the video is we're gonna put those in there that one in there and that one in there like so I'll just trim those down and then I think the idea is if you come with me dashboards getting in the way we got no room we need a nice workshop right so what they're trying to do is make use of all this room can you see in there during see in there and what its gonna fix on this this top here is gonna fix on that front little pin there and then I think we've got to all fixings one here and one here and there I'm gonna go somewhere well you won't have to sit enjoyed rather you sit in and look round and they're gonna go and have to look through the window we'll have a little look-see but they all line up right so that's that one let me just I'm making you get in and out

and then it oh it does line up it lines up with some fixing bolts down in there so we'll need to get some screws it didn't come with any screws and we'll get the speaker and you see us use the available space and obviously like boys on the other side so that's what we're gonna be right first thing let's trim those speakers down and bolt them into the casings then we'll put the whole lot in there yep right we could just grab that now drop that in there now the warriors of God come out that little cap there I guess you put that there and that all sort of lines up and that would be good if we're going to screw that in but I'm worried about the sound coming out of here I think it's all supposed to come out of this tube so I've got Keene and I'm gonna put a bit of this draught excluders seal I got round the edge here but once I put that on I won't see where my screws are so I'm just gonna quickly mark that way that's why I know where my screws up there for these of me I just found this in a garret on my inner edge that you're keeping that camera still dude yeah Sam was complimenting yesterday on your excellent camerawork thank you thank you Sam stay safe Sam all right here we go [Music] dawn oh no a staff yeah not for that I suppose I got me some scissors well a sticky it's all of it really maybe right don't panic Georgie panic in monopoly science dressing my camera shaking scuzz George's panicking BAM like where was that all that's right all right wow that's don't look too bad some little self tapping screws this is getting pretty herbal now right careful when you're screwing these in don't slip I slipped I've covered it over with tape and I just got the case so better I make the mistakes and you guys don't so I think the trouble well this was sort of giving it all that so make sure you get someone to hold it as solid as you put those in could impact our sound quality but anyway we'll gloss over it for the video I think it's raw we've done a quality repair that I think will be alright right so we have got them both mounted in both all secured hopefully airtight we've got the speaker wires coming out in the correct places these came with these tricky little connectors so I'm on my way to go I think right we will need right let's get them mounted in let's have a look some of these screws might come in handy for screwing them in their cellar let's grab a couple of those and the drill that rear bolt they'll have to work at what bolt size that is oh and we ought to find out the original speaker connector don't trap that underneath there we go there's that one right now a B speaker was delete you got plus or minus on there oh yeah yeah so as long as we get them both the same see one of them's got a black wire we should have checked which ones positive and negative we'll assume he's wired it up correctly it doesn't matter which way you do it as long as they as long as one of them isn't positive and negative and the other neck it is impossible to sit opposite they'll be out of phase that's the technical word right so we got that there now those screws here on they should line up in there all right I'm gonna try and get that screwing I'm not gonna get my screwdriver I'm not forget a long screwdriver let me grab that you have to film through the window joint right we got your outside under a blanket here we go let's see both one of them is yeah

together again who would debate whether we could leave the dash out for that littleness won't we George yeah no we'll put it all back in because I think we need some it's quite clever it actually acts as the ducting doesn't it I mean this show people they might need so the heat blower blows here and depending whether it blows here or here it over pops out on windscreen heater or through the fresh air vents which it uses the cavities within the dash panel there as the the channels which is really clever design there's a lot of design on the smog that's why we like the smart cut because they've done things mad and different and clever enjoy your new sound system
