in this video everyone I thought we'd have a Point of View Drive in the smart 42450 so today I found myself in the county of staffer and I thought we'd film the first of many point of view videos would make sure we do at least one in every car just so that you can well come along for the ride or the drive even let me know if you like this camera position some of this will literally just be me driving by the way so this bromm is not going to talk it to death on the point of view videos although we will have a little chat at some point during the drive and this is going to be quite interesting for me at least cuz uh I haven't mapped out where we're going today so see if you recognize any of the road s old Vectra how many of them do you see on the road now so if you're interested where we are I'll give you a clue we're not that far from a place called or cross Hall sort of a amongst other things a Posh Beauty Spa obviously something I frequent every other week [Music] [Music] I do love how a smart 450 sounds interestingly if you don't drive you've never driven a smart 42450 or say first generation smart if you leave it in auto mode assuming that it's got the auto option it doesn't typically change into six gear which is quite a high gear until it gets to about 60 MPH what that means is of course it's really comfortable and quiet on the motorway because at 70 mph while the revs are only around 2,500 so it's it's not racing away like I genuinely think these cars are just as happy to go on the motorway as they are around town okay you do notice a bit of buffeting of course because at the end of the day it's a small car it's quite tall sided skinny front tires I'll call it characteristics while we're coasting along let's have a little chat about fuel everyone now if you follow the channel you'll know well I'm quite fussy because I'm quite fussy the cars are pampered and because the cars are pampered they only ever run on what I call Posh fuel so super unleaded usually use Tesco's finest cuz it's 99 run and my RS Cleo needs a minimum of 98 run anyway so 99 run is obviously absolutely fine but if I'm not near a Tesco it tends to be shell V Power Plus even in the Smart Car my cars are only driven on that let me know in the comments what your thoughts are about Posh fuel everyone my view is I think it's worth spending the extra few pennies for a start I think the fuel consumption is a little better I know some people do a sort of like every fourth fill with the Posh off maybe but for me of course with the miles that my cars do well that could be at least a year before it gets the Posh off so we keep it simple on the channel everyone we just basically fill them up with the posht off every single time let me know what your preferred fuel is let me know if you think the super unleaded just isn't worth it or whether you agree that the E10 fuel has got just too much ethanol and really the fuel consumption drops a bit because of it which of course if it does it negates some of the extra cost of Super un Leed doesn't it so using my man maths I call that a win-win

there's some beautiful cottages on this road so as you're watching this point of view everyone does that mean you own a smart yourself at the moment if so let me know which one you own I do read all the comments I do try to make sure I reply to all the comments although YouTube YouTube is not so good at letting me know about additional replies to comments so if I if I do reply to you and you rep to me and I miss that reply well YouTube's just not that good letting me know that you've been good enough to reply again so [Music] apologies so as you can tell this smart has got the auto option and I typically drive it in Auto if you've watched this video I do explain how driving it in Auto can be problematic particularly at Junctions a car might decide you need a different gear when you go for a gap and by the time the gear is selected the Gap is no longer there please go and check it out basically explains how you can drive one of these smoothly because the gearboxes are only semi-automatic which means of course it's a manual gearbox but with an automated computer rised clutch I just call it a quirk and I love it for it but it is something that you do need to get used to particular if you've been used to driving shall we say standard automatic cars cuz it Doesn't behave quite same and it doesn't creep so if you take your foot off the pedal and you're in a forward gear it doesn't creep forward and obviously if you're in a reverse gear it doesn't creep backwards it kind of sits there waiting for you to touch the pedal and then if you touch the pedal and you only touch it gently it doesn't tend to do anything so then you press it a bit more and it kind of then sort of tries to shoot off does make power parking a little bit more fun but again I'm going to put that down to a quirk cuz it's one of my favorite cars and I forgive all its quirks because of it it's not exactly highspeed driving is it this I'm not struggling for front end grip at the moment everyone I could listen to that engine out all day long oh that suggesting the Audi's going for an overtake he obviously knows the road better than I do cuz I can't see that far ahead I love coming out for a drive at this time of day so it's as you can probably see on the clock it's half1 in the morning the sun's out it's a week day this is my mental health fix everyone and I reckon some people watching this video will understand that in fact I think most people will understand that because you obviously have an interesting car if you're watching a video with a brommie driving a car but for me driving the cars that I feel so lucky that I can currently own is definitely a mental health fix anyway bit of national speed limit at last so we're currently bordering staffer and darish like many places there's some cracking driving roads around here to be fair I can't go past a car dealership no matter how small and not look at what's for sale and I can always find a reason why I want a

car it's only money and spice it's stopping you is it all 2.3 M width restrictions you think we're all right in this one anyone that's interested to the left it's a national arborium what you certainly have to be careful of with a smart car particularly the 450 is the uh pools of which there are many these cars don't do pools very well at all you certainly know when you hit one you know my cars are looked after but they're not babed either and I'm sure you would agree that that's better for them they do need to be revved and they certainly do get revved but of course I don't do that until the engines are fully warmed up but there's no point owning these cars and then babing them along the road at like 1500 2,000 revs cuz that's just no good either is it give them a good old rev occasionally I even hit the rev limiter but you know give him a good run does him no harm whatsoever did you hear that delay with the gear changing basically my foot as the engine room for power and the engine room responded by saying come on Harry we think we need another gear and a couple of seconds later we're off it's just something you get used to with a smart I tell you another thing they're better around corners than I bet some people give them credit for yes of course there's a limit is going to under steer quite easily particularly if the road isn't dry if you're pressing on but as you can probably tell we're not particularly backing off on this 60 MPH road for the Benz absolutely fine I think as we head into the town called Tamworth incidentally where my wife Fran originated from I think we'll leave the video there everyone now if you do watch the channel you'll know as I've said already that I pamper these cars but here's a picture of what this Smart looks like today on that note enjoy whatever it is you're driving I'll see you on the next [Music] one
