smart 42 451 we're going to be doing door nuts yes the crazy little nuts that always break at the bottom of your door panel um over there somewhere basically this is the part numbers first here's the driver's one alpha 451-727-0364 color code charlie tango three Alpha here's the passenger part number this is for the passenger door Alpha 451-727-0464 color code charlie tango three Alpha yes same color these are both official parts that you can get from Mercedes or your smart dealer Smart's kind of out of business so I'm guessing your Mercedes dealer or online but let's get right into it I'm going to show you how to do it first things first we're going to be taking off the exterior door panel so the first thing you're going to need is a Torx 27. so gonna go for these two bolts right here that's going to loosen up your door handle Once you pull those two bolts out it's gonna loosen your door handle he's going to pull on it towards yourself pops right out once it's popped out you're going to want to go ahead and disconnect these connectors here or cable so just don't bend them too far pop out just like that nice and easy this next one's a bit tricky you're going to need a Torx 20 which is going to be a few bolts it's kind of difficult with the camera angle there's one right over here and then there's one backwards down here that's going to be how small your little screws are once you will go to free you'll see you need to go up because this tab is holding onto the steel right here as it pops up it pops out of all this just comes right out next thing we're going to do is remove this mirror right here this is gonna be a few screws it's that same T20 from earlier there's total of three screws one up here one down in this area the lower one you'll find because of this cutout allows you to put a tool down there the third one is actually hidden behind this trim here trying to get you a little closer in order to remove this trim itself there's going to be one screw right here same thing T20 as you're pulling out go up and you'll notice that it comes out just like that as you can see the screw hole right there where the screws hiding these two and then the third one now you have all that exposed you can get this last third bolt right here but before you do that to remove this side mirror I'm going to disconnect it the simple tab here you pull on the small plastic tab portion right there just going to pull on this little guy and pull up so when the mirror is off gives me a little more room just like that simple connector mirror itself once that connector is off the mirror itself will come out then on the outside you'll notice the screw here this screw here is going to be a Torx 25 T25 zip it out simple little screw but it's going to have a washer for you and that keeps it from deforming this plastic too much when it tightens down and then on the side of the door here you'll see a push pin basically you want to knock that in it's going to fall into the door but that's okay it fell into the door and then you pull this off there you go you got the got the retainer there and next we're basically going to be pulling this door off the skin comes off quite easily first thing we're going to do is we're going to lift upward here there's a slot that it goes into and then you pull the whole skin this way towards the front of the vehicle as you do that it'll loosen up over here then you push down as you push down you'll be able to pull this portion out and then you slide it back and that's it as you can see it's very simple there's retainer Clips a few other Clips a few drainage holes my door skin comes right off as you can see the nut is badly worn here it's very stretched and it's on the other side of this so if you look to the other side you'll see you have the moisture barrier here that keeps the water from being on the inside of the door panel and your regulator for the glass here so obviously the nut is right here if you wanted to at this point you could cut all this away take the screws out and replace the nut I do not recommend it because then you'll get moisture into the inside so I'm going to show you at this point I could show you again how to remove the inside door panel but I have a video that I'll link in the description how to remove the inside portion and once we remove that inside portion I'll show you how to replace the nut it's quite easy so basically what you see here is me removing the door panel simply off of this but in the video that I linked I'll show you how to fully disconnect it you would need to take your battery apart so you can remove the airbag sensor here without getting any airbag codes what we did here is we simply disconnected the window regulator we disconnected the

door lock over here we also disconnected the interior door hinge which is all in the other video and you're gonna close the door and put a screwdriver through it just so it doesn't fall back out and it stays in there so it's safe to work what we're going to do is we're going to cheat a little bit instead of fully doing the door panel is we are going to Simply open this up to get access to the screws over here that are holding the net in place and we're simply just going to replace it that way and your door panel is not going to have this extra wiring I have custom installed some Kenwood speakers got a moisture barrier there got the crossover link and everything you're not going to have this extra wiring but the nut is quite simple it's right here it's the same screw it's going to be the same T20 all the way around you have one two three four five once we got all those screws I'm just going to open this to show you and basically reaching here and pull it right out it's that simple now as we compare the two the Old One's very worn the new one's brand new even though it's new it's going to have a little bit of this it's just the way that it is it allows for more volume inside I normally just would have these pushed in but the string is fixed just a another angle to show you it literally pulls right out [Music] take your new one obviously I'm going to clean this a little bit before I put it back together but you take your new one and you simply press it into the holes see right there see these pins they slot be a lot easier if I had two hands they just kind of slot right back in and once you put these screws through and you tighten it you'll see that it'll make the nut even tighter and that'll make this portion even tighter right now it's a little loose but let me put the screws in and show you what it looks like as you can now see once it's fully installed all the way it's nice and tight the old one is honestly so sad in comparison sad little lanky little boy so nasty gonna recycle that but look at this yeah so much nicer so I'm gonna go ahead and put everything back together and show you the finished result now that it's installed bam very nice well I'm gonna go ahead and do the other side and then guess what I got engine belts to do next so yeah I'm gonna show you guys how to do the belts without dropping the engine but yeah this is how you do these I'm going to finish off the other side and get on the belts hope you learned something today hope you had a little bit of fun with me making the Nets look all pretty and have a nice day
