[Music] [Music] what is up everybody welcome back to the channel one more time guys I have a video request uh from somebody that wants to know how to replace the not the timing belt the serpentine belt on the Smart Car 453 model so today I'm going to show you guys um how to do that and the tools you're going to need for that I just uh lifted the car up couple of inches from the ground as you can see and I went underneath it looks like it's simple simple simple install so let me get to it let me grab the tools and I'll show you guys um how to do that all right all right guys so this is the tools you're going to need if you're in the dark of course flashlight and then number 10 socket it's got to be a short one and then uh one of these breaker bars or half f r preferbly uh with a big handle and then uh either 13 mm or/ in like this one 12 point okay very important it's got to be 12 point uh can't be a long socket it has to be a short one okay so let's uh let's go to the bottom and show you the cover you have to remove all you have to get access right here first so get access to this area so you can access the belt tensioner and then just leave it open for now we're going to we we have to go to the bottom first and then remove that cover we have to get access to this cover so it'll be one two three looks like it's four three or four I can't see the back but let's take this three off first but there's something else uh holding it so okay I think I know where it's at exactly it's right here so four bolts 10 mm bolts and that comes off so now we can see the belt and then make sure you do uh either take a picture of the routing of the belt or Draw it in a piece of paper uh so for now I'm going to do a a picture cuz there's no diagram on this car okay from from now now we have to go to the top and uh so for this you are going to need some help guys um but if I find a way to do it by yourself I'll show you guys but as of now uh you're going an extra hand so somebody on top and somebody on the bottom removing this and uh helping you on the top to put it on back on the grooves okay so let's uh let me take a picture and go to the [Music] top okay guys so this is the next step this is the bolt for the belt tensioner this is the belt tensioner right here and this is the one we have to um we have to uh use the socket the/ in socket and then we have to pull it forward towards the front of the car okay so let me go ahead and do that right [Music] now so the further back the better just make sure you don't break this line um it's plastic okay so we're just going to go forward that's what I'm saying this is kind of hard so uh if you have some extra help just uh ask him for that help okay so one's going to pull right here and then I'm going to go to the bottom and remove the Bel okay so I have somebody uh on top losing uh taking up the tension off the belt so this is so now that the tension's off now you can remove it either from here and that's it and then he can let it go on top okay go ahead and let it go okay and that's it guys I have a new one um I couldn't get the Mercedes belt but I got a u OEM replacement let me show you guys uh uh the one I got okay so this is the one I just removed as you can see I I think this belt was was still okay but I'm just doing it for you guys uh for the video so you guys have it uh I think this belt is in pretty good sh so I'm going to save this belt is a spare

and uh this is the part number I'm sorry it's uh 7pk 1377 or you can use this and then uh Hutchin Hutchinson poly I believe that's the brand and then the one I got is uh uh 7 PK 1370 and then uh this is made in us and it's a different brand it's a it's called a bandal it's supposed to be a really good belt uh I was in the reviews and it has really good reviews they use it on a lot of things so it's the one I got so before you put it on there uh you want to match it so let show you guys over here so it's the exact same thing as the one we have okay so let me go ahead and put it back on then I'm going to save this one too this is fair okay so what I'm going to do I'm going to Route it like the picture and and then uh once I'm ready I'm going to have somebody on the top um putting on that tension so I can install the belt on the bottom all right so once you have your belt off um what I like to do I like to spin this this uh P right here this is for the for your water pump just uh just you know make sure it doesn't have any uh um movement or you know grinding noises bearing noises those seem to be pretty good this is the AC compressor and this is all slit on top um and then let me just check the tensioner one yeah they seem to be pretty smooth so that's one thing you want to check before you reinstall your belt so so I just look at the picture again that's why I told you guys make sure you take a picture or you can just refence this video so what I want to do I want to just throw it all the way up okay and then this is going to go go in the crank this will go towards the compressor it's a little uncomfortable doing it on the floor but it's it's not bad I wish I had a lift but I I don't I to buy one soon okay now this one from here goes to the alternator and this one's going to come down to the iser pulley just like so and then this one go goes back up to the tensioner go ahead and grab it from the tensioner David what pull it grab the BT and put it on the tensioner that right there okay so now um to me it's a lot easier to put it where it's smooth instead of uh where it has groups so what you want to do take it off from the iser pulley and then put it back on your crank cuz that way you know you don't have this lip and then now he's going to pull on the top just make sure everything's uh sitting correctly and you're ready to go okay go ahead and uh pull forward okay so just take your time little bit more right there okay that's it let it go okay guys so as you can see it's that simple um it's not hard at all and you need very minimum tools so there you go that's the Bel replacement on a 2016 uh smart car for 2 453 turbo model okay and this is a pass but I believe they're all the same now we have to do is just put the cover back on carpet and then that's [Music] it okay so let me put the cover back on we got to go go ahead and start the car David all right everything is set some back here okay you can turn it off all right guys so there you go and that's how you change the belt serpentin belt on a smartart 2016 uh uh all I got to do is uh just put it back to together but uh I just realized I want to do a video on

replacing the spark blocks I haven't changed those so I'm going to leave it open and tomorrow I will go buy the plugs uh show you guys the part number that I get where I bought it and um just uh change the plugs and make another video so that'll be in the next video guys just in case you want to replace them uh I'll have another video for you guys tomorrow okay and I'm going to do that first thing in in the morning and um that's it just uh if you guys have another view request just don't ask me to replace the engine cuz uh mine doesn't need a replacement yet so um needed the Bell but I wanted to do the video you know for you guys but um uh if I talk funny guys sorry I got the my my uh uh retainers on so I just uh they just remove my braces uh about a month ago so I have to be wearing this so I I I have to talk like this with them it's and it's funny for me too but um I'm getting used so if I talk funny guys that's that's the reason uh but anyways that's it thank you guys for watching and don't forget to subscribe and give a like
