i know we've been filming a lot of smart car videos but one more sorry sorry little fiat hey guys welcome to the vlog my name is paul i go by the smart man today's video we're starting off a little differently if you can't tell i am on a sidewalk walking through pittsburgh pennsylvania now this is a prime example of urban prairie i literally have a street right here you see the street lights over there i'm walking on a sidewalk and look at all this overgrowth empty lots this is because pittsburgh has lost so much population in the last 50 years a lot of people think pittsburgh is a rundown place and i mean it does have its bad parts don't get me wrong but it's not all like this this city has amazing things going for it and one of them today is a little adventure we're taking the smart car on and that is we're going to see if the smart car can tackle the steepest street in the continental united states that's right the steepest street in the continental united states is here in pittsburgh pennsylvania and we're going to see if the little smart car ride over there can tackle it so without further ado let's get this day started you guys will notice my amazing little light show back here can't wait uh to get out on the road at night time and just driving around with the top down the issue has been it's been really cold lately now when most people think of really steep streets i think they think of lombard street in san francisco i've been there and that's a really steep street but what makes that street interesting is it it winds down the hill this street that we're going to is called canton avenue here in pittsburgh and what makes this street so special is that it is just a steep incline the grade on canton avenue is 37 degrees it's like this i don't i don't know i don't have my protractor with me so i can't really tell you but 37 degrees is pretty steep i'm really concerned that this little smart car will be able to make it up that steep grade it's going to be kind of scary 0-60 test let's go one eternity later i don't know how long we've been doing this but it's a long time [Music] this is a 60 zone obviously let me just slow down you know just just for safety sync i did get a couple more offers on the smart car actually and i declined them all so it looks like we're keeping a good old smarty car i love this car anyways it does need some work you know after all a lot of you guys have been here since i started doing the youtube channel with the smart car so i don't want to sell it because one i got a lot of you guys following me just for the smart car dumb adventures that i do and uh two i just i love this car it's it's it doesn't make sense but i love it so uh we're keeping it the hill is right up here now interesting fact about pittsburgh is we actually have staircases that are actual streets that's right that staircase has a name it's called greymoor avenue on maps it shows you that those are staircase now just down the street we have canton avenue and uh this is the seat portion right here it's just you know a couple houses on the side no houses on this side and then once you get to the top you can't come back down you have to go all the way around so you can only go up the street you can't go down the street unless the smart car doesn't make it i'm not sure i guess we'll see i'm kind of nervous because i don't want to roll back i've never been in a car that rolls back so you guys that is a steep string let me put the brake on notice the sidewalk is actually a staircase that that's how steep it is all right guys moment of truth i don't know if it's going to make it let's do this i may or may not die i have the camera on a gimbal so we will be seeing straight out i believe we're gonna take it nice and slow oh all right so you can see the camera's on a gimbal oh the car does not want to do this look how steep it is holy crap it's doing it it's doing it we got torque it's just so steep i made it i want to show you guys how the view is from the top of this this road so like i said you're not allowed to go down the street i don't know why maybe because brakes fail or something not sure but this is the steepest street in the continent's united states

[Music] wow i don't know if you guys can really justify how steep this is look at that that is crazy you guys look how steep that is there's a little rundown that's for sure but wow the fact that you have to have staircases on a street the street it's funny because it slowly starts to bank down and then just then just does this craziness all right round two you guys let's do this i wonder if our floor my foot is down to the floor right now like this is about leaning back in my seat this car is struggling on these hills i am scared of my first pittsburgh snow uh with this car because i'm not sure how it's gonna handle all right so now you guys know the smart car can make it up canton avenue in pittsburgh um it was pretty sketchy i'm not gonna lie the car wouldn't go about maybe like five miles an hour on that road but that was fine that was just enough to get us over the top and um it is a really bumpy road as well it's completely brick so um use your best judgment when going up there especially in low cars um yeah let's hop in the smart car and head on home now when you have a chance to go through a tunnel you go through a tunnel just throwing that out there four feet tunnel there it is got a couple big ones this is one of the main ones this is pittsburgh's grand entrance one more time there's the grand entrance you guys what other city has that grand entrance we are home sweet home i hope you guys enjoyed this vlog if you did be sure to smash that like button and it was a little different a little shorter than normal um but i really wanted to see if the smart cars would make it up that street if you guys like this video be sure to smash that subscribe button uh give me a thumbs up and i appreciate each and every one of you guys for watching peace out [Music] you
