what is going on everyone my name is Paul and I go by the smart man so this is my 2016 smart for two pure but I just recently sold my previous generation Smart Car the little purple piece that I had and uh I missed that car but this car has some awesome little quirks and it's still a smart car although it feels like a completely different car so without further Ado today let's go ahead and dive into this car and I want to tell you guys what is different from this car versus the last car and tell you guys a little bit about how it drives as well so let's jump into it so the first thing I want to talk about is the engine which believe it or not in a smart car just like every other previous generation it's here between the back wheels um so you actually have to take out your cargo to access the engine but there's actually six screws you unscrew right here and you can access the engine the engine of this new generation smart for two produces 89 horsepower uh versus 71 in the last smart for two the last generation Smart Car weight 1800 pounds this one weighs 1900 pounds so it's only 175 pounds heavier and you get 19 more horsepower which I think that's pretty good right you actually have a lot more cargo space back here I think you get 9.2 cubic feet in the new smart the last smart you get 7.8 cubic feet uh so you get a little more space back here the width of the car is about 10 centimeters wider um I believe that's what I saw on the internet now when it comes to fuel economy this car actually gets the same fuel economy as the last generation smart for two uh so I believe it is 36 miles per gallon in Combined City and Highway I get 19 more horsepower more weight got the same fuel consumption these cars were mistaken for being super super efficient on gas whereas the whole smart concept is it's small enough to fit into major cities and that's a big misconception that here in the U.S market we see with the smart cars now I do want to tell you guys one fact and let me pull out my notes the previous generation smart car had a turning radius of 28.7 feet this smart car has a turning radius of 22.8 feet I know that's a weird stat I want to show you guys what we mean because if you've ever watched a smart car video with the 453 we've all talked about this so let me show you guys foreign [Applause] this car drives so much different than the 451 it's a smoother Rider overall and um honestly the suspension setup on this car is a hundred times better than the previous generation so let's hop inside because driving is the main difference with this car there's also a few things about this car that I wish would have carried over from the 451 so the first thing that I wish this car had over the other car there's no traction control off button and nobody has been able to figure out how to turn off trash control trash control off is a must if anybody knows of how to turn off charge control any 453 which is this generation 2016 and up to 2020 in the United States please let me know in the comments below another thing with the car that I wish smart would have been a little more smart about is on the steering wheel you have all the media controls you have your cruise control all that fun stuff but whenever you want to skip a song via Bluetooth there is no next button on the steering wheel it makes no sense I have the volume everything's on the steering wheel here except for the next button and then another thing I don't like about the 453 um is the key location now I know that seems so dumb but one of the best quirks about the last generation smart car was that the key was right down in between the two seats but that's one of those quirks that makes Smart Cars so much fun is that you know people hop in to go drive it and they go look from for the key and the in the steering column and it's not there and you're like oh yeah it's a smart car it's down here and that's something I definitely miss with the last generation smart car now that being said those are all my cons I can think about with this 453 there are so many Pros over the last generation that I just I can't even go I can't even make a list of them I think this generation looks better I know that's very um opinionated but uh I think this generation looks a little more refined a

little better um the transmission oh my goodness if anyone's ever driven a 2008 to 2015 Smart car don't know that the transmission is garbage now I got used to driving it because I always drove my smart car in manual mode with the paddle shifters um but not everybody does that I was able to buy this smart car with a manual transmission and oh my goodness I love it I haven't driven the automatic version of the 2016 to 2020 smart car also known as the 453 but I have heard that it is so much better um it shifts a lot quicker um there's no lag between the shifts and uh that was the big thing with the last generation is so yeah this car is a lot more refined as it should be it's a newer model right it should be more refined it should be better than the last generation and that being said I still do miss my last smart car I loved that car I knew how to push that car to its limits 12 seconds later dang this car's so much more quick 50 60. holy moly like you can actually get in trouble with this car [Music] wow that's uh a lot quicker than you expect it's still click it's pretty quick uh this is fun this is fun I haven't been able to open up the Smart car like this and it's fun all right let's take this corner kind of quick see see there's the trash control kicking in so I don't know I don't know what to do about this trash control all right we'll do one more zero to 60 just to show you guys how much faster this is versus the old Smart Car 10 miles an hour and go first gear a little bit of lag [Music] wow that's so much better so a couple reasons why I sold my last smart car is because the drop top is significantly more to replace than the value of the car itself which makes absolutely zero sense to keep it right and as you guys know I want to save the manual so I am doing my part to save the manual so I bought a manual transmission Smart Car having the manual transmission Fiat one two four spider and yeah I'm saving the manuals I'm very excited to start customizing this car and making it my own because um I don't like driving stock cars I just wanted to give you guys a short rundown of this smart car versus the last smart car from a real perspective I'm not an automotive journalist just saying stuff I'm living with this car Dane and day out if you guys like this channel be sure to hit that subscribe Button as you guys know we just hit 1 000 subscribers so I do appreciate each and every one of you guys for subscribing I did just schedule a mountain Madness 3 with my group The Southern smarts so if you're interested in joining fellow smart cars and just having a blast tearing up roads especially Mountain Roads be sure to follow the southern smarts on Facebook or you can just follow the YouTube channel and I will obviously give you guys updates as always thank you guys for watching y'all take care peace [Music]
